What Is Celebrex?
Celebrex is a prescribed steroids free anti-inflammatory drug or medicine that provides day and night relief from pain, swelling and stiffness caused by osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It is also known to be effective in the relief of pain especially after surgery. However it does not stop the progression of either type of arthritis but just reduces the symptoms and signs of arthritis.How Does It Work?
Celebrex relieves pain by targeting specific enzymes in the body, known as COX-2 enzymes. Celebrex is so different from other drugs because it only targets COX-2 enzymes, where as most pain relievers target both the COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes. The COX-1 enzyme is needed by the body to protect the lining of the stomach.
What Must You Know Before Taking Celebrex
It has sometimes been prescribed for other uses like for relief of acute pain and the pain of menstrual cramps. However there are quite a number of people who suffer from Celebrex side effects such as severe stomach bleeding, especially those who consume alcohol while on the medication. Other over-the-counter aspirins and ibuprofens must be carefully supervised and cleared by a doctor if taken with Celebrex.
Studies of Celebrex on pregnant women have not been carried out, it is recommended that if the patient Women who are in their third trimester of pregnancy or is pregnant should only take medication on their doctors advice because the effects on the unborn embryo are not known.
While a woman is nursing, she should not take any Celebrex in case it causes Celebrex side effects. There are quite a number of people who are vulnerable to violent allergic reactions to Celebrex. Therefore these problems should be taken to a doctor as soon as possible.
